Central Oklahoma was hit with a major ice storm on December 9-10, 2007. We were without power for about 40 hours, however, we were lucky. Many of our family and friends did not have power for almost two weeks. The freezing rain began on Sunday morning Dec. 9, and continued until Monday afternoon. About 1.5- 2" of ice accumulated in a narrow corridor along and near I-44. Luckily, strong warm air advection resulted in a temperature rise to 33-34 degrees F on Monday evening and Tuesday, or the storm would have been much worse. I managed to snap a few pics on Monday morning before work. The only other ice storm I have seen, that was worse than this one, was in the Memphis area (February 1994) when over 3" of ice accumulated.
