WeatherKnurd Hiking

Silvershield Trail, Ouray CO

September 26, 2008

I wanted to take a day hike while I visited my brother. However, he informed me it would be best to hike in the trail system around Ouray. That was because hunting season had begun, and some of the back country trails I wanted to go on were in hunting areas. He ended up taking me on part of a trail just outside of town. The trail was named Silvershield.

We left in the afternoon and only hiked a small part of the trail, due to time restraints. The part we hiked starts just north of town by the Uncompahgre River, and rises above the town and the deep, narrow, river valley. Beautiful views of the town, valley, and old mines made it enjoyable. The fall colors enhanced our experience.
