Last Hurrah

February 1, 2010

Snow remained on the ground on Monday from the previous week's storm. I spent so much time sledding during the weekend that I do not even have pics from every trip I made (as a result not all of the trips are documented on this site). It started on Friday afternoon when I went with Phil Conway and his old roommate while the snow was still coming down heavily. In all, I think I made six separate trips to three different locations. I even went on a late night adult sled with Jason Fuller, and we met the Hobb's, the McMahon's and a few others at midnight. Sometime around 2am a couple of cops showed up...not because we were being too loud, but because they wanted to take a few runs themselves!!!

I had so much fun sledding over the weekend that I skipped the gym in lieu of sledding, while Dylan was at school. I called Greg Hobbs while I was on my way over to Will Rogers Park(still the best sled site...in OKC anyway), and of course he was already there with his boy Kalob. When I arrived we took a few gnarly runs down the steeper parts. Unfortunately, many idiots bring boxes thinking they can sled on them. Over the weekend, too many people left their disintegrated boxes all over the steepest runs. Fortunately, most people do not walk over to the corner of the park adjacent to the highway. We did, and were rewarded with snow that was not packed completely down...and we found a small jump that someone made. It was another good time, and fotunately for me the snow stuck around long enough for me to get in a few very slushy runs the next day by myself, before work. Pics and video links are below, although I messed up and shot the video at a lower setting...so the quality is not too great.
