Zac Keever and I went to Memphis for some BBQ, Blues, and of course Basketball. We watched the OU - Syracuse game, and then the Carolina - Gonzaga game. Both games were sleepers, and of course I was pleased as could be with the OU blowout of Syracuse (revenge for 2004!). Tony Crocker had the game of his life with a career high 28 points (6/11 from 3-pt range). Blake Griffin stepped it up as usual with 30 points and 14 rebounds, becoming the first player since 1969 to with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in the first 3 NCAA Tournament games. OU played a very good game breaking down the 'Cuse 2-3 zone. It was awesome.
The best part about the Carolina - Gonzaga game was the band from Gonzaga. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and I wish the game was more competitive for them. The game was exciting and fast paced, with 95 combined points scored in the first half. Unfortunately, it was just too much Tarheels for the 'Zags. We did form the opinion that the best player on UNC was not Tyler Hansbrough. Instead we think it is the guard Ty Lawson. Blake should dominate Hansbrough on Sunday. Dominate! Hopefully our guards will continue to step up. It should be a great game! After the game, we walked down Beale St. and ate at Blues City Cafe. Then, we listened to some great blues by Preston Shelton. All in all, a great night!
