The risk of storms this day was negligible, so we headed to Great Bend Kansas to get in position for a possible chase in the upcoming days. We also needed a much needed break. We chased about 54 hours in the previous 4 days, covering 8 states from the Dakotas to Texas, including Wyoming and Montana. The day off was also used to relax and go through all of our pics and video. I only include this as a "chase" day to include the mileage and time.
The risk of storms for the rest of the weekend looked weak, so we called the chasecation and headed back to Kansas City, where everyone's cars were parked. On the way, we did see some of the massive flooding just east of Salina, Kansas on I-70. Even though the flooding had some time to subside, the water level was still impressively high. After parting ways with the group in KC, I headed south on Hwy. 69 toward Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma...where my wife, kid, and in-laws were beginning the Memorial Day Weekend.
